While working at BGET, Annalise developed and conducted an energy, water and sanitation needs assessment for the 70 migrant schools in the Mae Sot area. These schools provide both education and housing to many students who have fled the military regime in Burma. The Thai government does not provide financial assistance and many schools lack a source of electricity, safe drinking water or sanitation services. BGET has already installed PV solar systems or UV water filtration in a number of schools. Annalise complied the findings of the needs assessment in a final report that identifies schools with the greatest needs. Other NGOs in the region are also using the report to identify schools in need of water and sanitation services.
Annalise contributed to development for BGET writing grant proposals and project progress reports. In Mae La refugee camp, she helped BGET run a bio-gas workshop at an engineering school. She also spent a week at helping put in a power line and preparing for construction of a training center right on the Thai-Burma border.
