Graduation Date: June 2009 While at UCS, Andy worked on a variety of interesting projects. His most visible work was his contribution of significant updates to the Clean Energy 101 section of UCS' website. In addition, he created a large dataset on coal trade flows in the United States in the past decade, which will be used in UCS’s research and publications. Andy also provided preliminary research and literature review for UCS's extended research project on the water implications of energy use in a warming world. Finally, he researched the expected future costs of Carbon Capture and Storage, and drafted a proposal on how UCS could better organize and present its coal-related web materials. When not in the Cambridge office, Andy visited the Washington, DC UCS office and attended seminars. He greatly enjoyed his time spent in the office with smart and energetic people, as well as his experiences in the Boston/Cambridge area. "I learned a lot about the latest in the renewable energy industry in the process of updating sections of the website. Additionally, I learned the importance of nuanced language in publications and web materials. In writing for a science-based NGO, there is a very fine balance to maintain in keeping writing both technically sound and accessible to a more general audience." Andy Maleragno "More than any other internship/Fellowship program that we've had, the MAP Fellowship consistently provides quality and enthusiastic candidates that deliver important contributions to our work." Jeff Deyette, Sr. Energy Analyst
