BinBin’s assignment was to take an existing draft NRDC position paper on coal in the US and China and turn it into a position paper focusing on China. Her task was to update the sections on China coal production, coal use, and environmental and health impacts. In addition, she was to expand the section on policies and market mechanisms that could help reduce China’s reliance on coal and promote carbon capture-ready coal gasification.
