As a MAP Fellow in NRDC's Washington, D.C., office, Carolyn worked with both the Energy Program and the Climate Center. Carolyn worked on a variety of projects for the Climate Center, including the following: writing a summary of floor speeches from the Lieberman-Warner Senate floor debate; researching the social cost of carbon for NRDC's comments on National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFÉ) rule making; drafting a fact sheet summarizing what China is doing on climate change; and writing a global warming science update for circulation on the Hill and posting on NRDC's website.

For the Energy Program, Carolyn worked together with MAP fellow, Doug Hannah, on a research project titled "Roadmap to a clean energy economy." The report provides a snapshot of the expert state of opinion on current and emerging federal energy policies across all sectors and policy mechanisms. Together, the two interviewed dozens of noted experts in both NRDC and the broader energy community. The report will feed in to the NRDC's process of developing a prioritized federal energy policy platform for the next administration's transition team and for the 111th Congress.

"I think NRDC is one of the best environmental NGOs out there, and my summer experiences confirmed that. In the community-wide meetings, we were the experts and leaders that the rest of the groups turned to. There is also a diversity of great energy projects that NRDC is working on, enabling a more diverse educational experience for the Fellow."

Carolyn Snyder
