Luke helped developed a data transfer mechanism to enable energy simulation software to communicate more directly with LEED databases. When completed, this mechanism will greatly enhance the administration of LEED certification for the client, as well as expand the usage of energy analysis tools across the industry. These tools are essential to developing energy efficient design, and will play a major role in benchmarking performance and evaluating environmental performance from energy consumption.

Luke also researched carbon emissions for building footprints. This work will inform building designers with benchmarks and meaningful performance goals that will spur broader interest in truly minimizing the carbon footprint of buildings.
