Peter Atkin examined and assessed the embedded energy savings potential of improving recycling programs in US airports and airlines. The goal of the Fellowship was to quantify the potential energy and environmental benefits of recycling waste produced by the airline industry; identify key logistical, economic, and political barriers to increased recycling rates within the industry and make recycling recommendations to the industry.
