Siddhartha is eager to leverage his diverse experience in business, government, and academic research to contribute to the NRDC Air and Energy team. Over the past four years, he has pursued his passion for energy and the environment off and on campus. In 2008, Siddhartha conducted research as NASA Earth Sciences Research Intern on California air quality, partnering with the California Air Resources Board and Environmental Protection Agency. As a Stanford in Government Fellow with California State Senator Joe Simitian, Siddhartha drew on his interdisciplinary environmental science and policy studies to serve in a consultative manner on energy and environmental bills. While working for the Department of Justice’s Environment and Natural Resources Division through the Stanford in Washington program, Siddhartha performed industry research to determine the feasibility of corporate compliance with emissions regulations, prepared legal briefs on technical and policy aspects of federal air quality regulations. On campus, Siddhartha is a research assistant in the Water in the West program, co-President of Students for a Sustainable Stanford, and Vice Chair of Stanford in Government. When not thinking about environmental policy issues, Siddhartha enjoys bicycling, reading, playing pickup basketball, and being a foodie. Siddhartha is honored to have the opportunity to join the NRDC as a MAP Fellow. Following the Fellowship, Siddhartha hopes to pursue a J.D. and practice environmental law.
