MOSS LANDING POWER PLANT Monday 11/3 Names must be submitted to Moss Landing on October 20. Unfortunately, no roster changes can be accommodated after that date. If you are on the waiting list, your name will be submitted as a stand-by participant, and you may be able to attend if there are drops on the main list and seats become available. BRING A PICTURE ID. Security is strongly enforced at Moss Landing Power Plant. Security personnel will be asking for a picture ID from all visitors. No proper ID, no entrance, no exceptions. Bus will depart and return from the top of the Oval. LS Power Equity Partners, a member of LS Power, purchased nine Duke Energy power plants located in the northeastern and western United States in May 2006. Duke Energy had bought the plant from its long time owner/operator, PG&E. The plant has been in the process of converting from a simple gas turbine power plant to a combined cycle gas turbine power plant (called re-powering). It is located on the scenic Elkhorn Slough, a renowned bird and wildlife habitat. The tour will last about 2 to 3 hours, depending on questions. There will be a safety presentation and an overview talk before the actual walking plant tour. Hard hats, safety glasses and earplugs will be provided. All participants are required to wear a hard hat and frontal eye protection. If a tour participant currently wears glasses, they will be sufficient for frontal eye protection. Tour groups are subjected to an industrial environment including loud noises, high and/or low ambient temperatures, and possibly uneven floor surfaces and steps. Shorts, dresses, skirts, sandals or high heel shoes should not be worn. Comfortable pants, a light jacket, and flat shoes are recommended. Additional information: |
