Valero Energy Corporation Benicia Oil Refinery

The Benicia refinery, located on the Carquinez Straits of San Francisco Bay, is operated by San Antonio-based Valero Energy Corporation, the largest refiner in the country. Valero purchased the Benicia refinery in 2000, from Exxon Mobil. One of the newest refineries in the area, it was commissioned in 1968, and has a refining capacity of about 170,000 barrels a day. Valero employs about 480 people on the 800-acre site.

The two hour tour will include a presentation of refinery operations, a visit to the control room, and a guided tour around the perimeter of the refinery, hosted by one of Valero's engineering staff members.
