This trip will depart from and return to San Francisco. No variations from the schedule will be considered or allowed. All students who attend this trip are requested to adhere to the final itinerary.

DAILY TRAVEL SCHEDULE

March 23 Thursday
Depart from San Francisco International Airport, United Airlines Flight UA 889 at 1:25 pm.

March 24 Friday
Arrive at the Beijing Capital Airport on Friday, March 24th at 5:55 pm. Transfer to hotel.

March 25 Saturday
AM: Presentation by Fuqiang Yang, Head, Energy Foundation Beijing Office on overview of China’s energy situation. Meet with David Moskowitz, Director, Regulatory Assistance Project and Wang Wanxing.

Noon+PM: Tour to the Forbidden City and Great Wall.

March 26 Sunday
AM: Presentation by Chen Qing, Director, South-North Institute for Sustainable Development, in Zhongshan Park on overview of China’s environment and related policies/measures; Lunch in the Park. Presentation by Patrick Jenevein of Tang Energy Group about the status of the wind industry in China.

PM: Site visit to a rural energy case and rural homes burning biogas and coal.

March 27 Monday
AM: Meeting and presentation by Zhou Dadi of NDRC/ERI or his colleague on China’s policy overview of new and renewables and conventional energy and energy efficiency.

PM: Site visit to Ministry of Science and Technology green building demonstration. This is the first LEED Gold demonstration in China.

Transfer to airport and fly to Yichang.

March 28 Tuesday
Bus transfer to San Dou Ping for site visit to the Three Gorges Dam.

PM: Visit Chinese Sturgeon Research Institute. Chinese sturgeon is an endangered indigenous species that could be affected by the project.

Transfer to Wuhan, arrive late in the day.

March 29 Wednesday
Fly from Wuhan to Kunming.
Visit a solar water equipment manufacture and solar water application community.

March 30 Thursday
Fly from Kunming to Nanging. Presentation by official from Jiangsu Economic and Trade commission and National Demand-Side Management Center.

Bus drive to Fuzimiao Temple (a park based on an ancient temple) for traditional local food and night view of the park.

March 31 Friday
AM: Drive to Jianbi coal plant in Zhenjiang city.

PM: Drive from Zhenjiang to Wuxi for Suntech. Over night in Wuxi.

April 01 Saturday
Drive from Wuxi to Guohua Taicang, environmentally friendly coal plant, and Shanghai. Arrive in Shanghai late in the day.

April 02 Sunday
Relax in Shanghai. Guided tour of city, Chenghuang Temple, lunch at Lubolang restaurant for typical Shanghai meal. Options for shopping and visit to Urban Planning Exhibition in the afternoon.

April 03 Monday
Transfer to Meglev Station in Pudong and take the fastest vehicle on the earth to Pudong International Airport for the US. Depart from Pu Dong Airport in Shanghai at 12:45 pm to arrive at San Francisco International at 8:40 am.
