The William W. Whitley Citizen Scholar Award

This award was endowed by MAP in honor of Bill Whitley, who died December 31, 2001. Mr. Whitley, a Stanford geology alumnus, worked with MAP for almost a decade, sourcing dealflow in the Rockies. This award honors a graduating Earth Systems student each June for outstanding academic achievement and remarkable contributions to Stanford, peers, and others. Sustainable Energy Travel Grant

As part of creating the new class, CEE 176F, CEO Jane Woodward realized that there were no available sources of funding at Stanford to offset part of the cost of the energy field trip to China for the students in this field class. MAP has created a Sustainable Energy Travel Grant that offsets approximately 50% of the cost of the trip in exchange for a written pledge by the student to commit volunteer time to the area of Sustainable Energy Education.
