Tia's primary research project was an analysis of state renewable electricity standard compliance. She examined utilities commission reports and dockets to determine if individual states are complying with their standards, the resources being used to meet the standards, and whether or not state standards have been effective in promoting the development of renewable energy. This information will be integrated into UCS's online Renewable Electricity Standard Toolkit which is designed to provide in-depth information on state standards for advocates and policy makers. In addition to her main project, Tia worked on an analysis of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles to determine what role they may play in the near future in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and supporting the development of intermittent renewable energy resources such as wind power. She also assisted UCS staff in collecting and evaluating data on state energy imports and energy diversity that was included in state fact sheets on the benefits of clean energy. "I've become much more interested in advocacy as a result of this Fellowship." Tia Hansen
"The best interns/Fellows that we have each year consistently come from the MAP fellowship program." Steve Clemmer, Research Director, Clean Energy Program
