Currently, Tawni Tidwell is in northern India on a six-month study abroad program through Emory University. She is the program assistant on Tibetan Studies and the Buddhist philosophy teaching assistant. This summer, Tawni will be leading high school students this summer trekking and on cultural exploration. Fellowship Tawni assisted in researching and drafting the energy chapter for State of the World 2004. She authored two special topic sidebars addressing energy and energy-related consumption trends in China and India, and the effects of information technology on energy consumption. Her other projects included preparing an internal report on the indicators that renewable energy is reaching critical mass within the US, press releases, an article for World Watch Magazine on the Community Development Carbon Fund, and a Worldwatch briefing document on renewably produced hydrogen. "Tawni was a great addition to Worldwatch. She provided useful and insightful contributions to all aspects of our work, from minor projects to book drafts, and on a broad range of issues. Thanks to Tawni's presence last summer, Worldwatch was able to become involved in a number of projects and conferences that we could not otherwise have covered, and were able to include new information in the World Watch magazine - in a short piece that Tawni wrote! The energy chapter (and probably a few other chapters as well) of State of the World 2004 is a better, stronger and more interesting chapter thanks to Tawni's input. Tawni's work and friendship made this past summer far less difficult and far more enjoyable than it otherwise would have been, and it was a real pleasure working with her." —Janet Sawin "It was incredible to get paid to think, research, and write about issues I would want to explore on my own anyway. Working with others who shared similar passions, were respected worldwide for their work, and collaborating on publications and projects with experts in their field for an international audience was a great experience." —Tawni Tidwell Click on the links below to view publications authored by Tawni during her Fellowship.
